Celebrar Aniversarios with Nax - An Interview


Um dos grandes singles lançados neste início de ano certamente veio de não tão longe assim. Nossos hermanos argentinos do Nax conceberam duas pérolas calcadas em um inspirado mix de dreampop, pós punk e shoegaze.

"Celebrar Aniversarios", o single em questão, abre com "Aniversarios" e rapidamente se encerra com "Kria".  A primeira especialmente gazer, a segunda climática e densa. A sensação após audições sequenciais do single é infelizmente, que, precisamos de mais, muito mais, tamanha perfeição das canções.

Entre sonhos e distorções, esperamos urgentemente que o Nax nos brinde com mais, muito mais.

Q. When did Nax start? Tell us about the history...
Not the name of the proyect but the feeling and the idea really started when i and Juan Hernandez were going to take a bus (the infamous 112) and have some troubles with some bullies that beated the crap out of us. So this negative experience became into something positive: Nax.

Q: Who are your influences?
Nicolás Castello: Sometimes when i think in our influences i think in the poetry of this musicians \ poets from Argentina: Rosario Bléfari, Francisco Bochaton, Alejandra Pizarnik, Oliverio Girondo, Roberto Arlt and Julio Cortázar.

Juan Hernéndez: Simon Gallup and Peter Hook. Daniel Sagasta: Oasis.

Q. Make a list of 5 albums of all time.
Nicolás Castello: 1. The Cure - Disintegration 2. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless 3. Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas 4. Slowdive - Souvlaki 5. Cranes - Live in Italy

Q. How do you feel playing live?
Nicolás Garimano: It´s one of the best feelings that we could ever feel.


Q. How do you describe Nax sounds?
Nicolás Castello: I will describe it as the sound of our souls. I like to think that our souls are singing this old melodies that have been growing in our insides, some of them are more recent, some of them are super ancient.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
Nicolás Castello: Usually we start with a couple of demos recorded in my home-studio. Later the guys would listen, compose their parts and then they came to record. A time later I would mix the tracks. At last: me, or other people, would master the tracks.

Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
Nicolás Garimano: Mild high club y Kurt Vile.

Juan: These " new " bands: Interpol, Yeah yeah yeahs, Bombay bicycle club. I think that i got stucked in time.

Nicolás Castello: I would recommend: Whimsical, Venusians, El camino de los caminos, The Churchill Garden, Airiel, Eternal Summers, Fear of men, Starhorse, Miniatures, A thousand hours, Leave the planet, Pinkshinyultrablast, Introflirt and Drab Majesty.

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
Juan: I would like someday to do this particular songs: The Cure-End \ Siouxsie and the banshees- Monitor \ Joy Division-She lost control \ New Order-Ceremony.

Nicolás Garimano: Actually, we were rehearsing " She lost control ", " Just like heaven " from Cure and " Blue Monday " by New Order.

Q: What are your plans for the future?
Nicolás Castello: Our plans are to keep enjoying from our friendship in the process of making music .
