Whirlpool Shapes Wormhole Shades with Blunt Corner - An Interview

***** Interview with Blunt Corner *****

Q. When did Blunt Corner start? Tell us about the history...
A. Blunt Corner started in Connecticut when I was living in Bloomfield after I decided to start a new project after my last one, Ghost Faux. I was experimenting with some writing and finished with a bunch of songs that became the project it is today.

Q: Who are your influences?
A. Some of my influences would have to include

Q. Make a list of 5 albuns of all time…
A. Very hard to choose but here's some of my favorite albums
Boards Of Canada - Geogaddi ;
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless ;
Radiohead - Kid A ;
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F#A# Infinity ;
Jeff Buckley - Grace

Q. How do you feel playing live?
A. I feel great playing live with my group of friends & we have lots of fun playing the songs with each other. We try our best to capture what the recordings do but we mainly just try to have a good time playing for people.

Q. How do you describe Blunt Corner sounds?
A. I would describe Blunt Corner as a shapeshifting soundscape right now at the moment but I do hope to intend to keep it that way. I enjoy keeping it fresh and diverse while writing material I can enjoy playing with a group of other musicians.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
A. When I record my material I mainly use my Tascam 388 reel to reel tape machine and then transfer it all to my laptop through this interface I use for Pro Tools, where I mix it all myself. I've always preferred to record in the analog domain simply because of how natural recordings on tape sound.

Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
A. Some fresh bands I recommend checking out would be King Bongo, SLOOF, and Crag Mask, all great bands you can find on spotify or however you listen to your music, totally worth the listen.

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
A. I have covered songs live before from some of my more recent favorite artists like Good Morning but I'm not sure if i could choose one band to be a cover version of. I definitely could cover multiple songs from my favorite bands like Radiohead or MBV though under a different act name but not as Blunt Corner, I would rather keep the covers to a rare one from my favorites.

Q: What are your plans for the future?
A. My plans for the future right now are recording & finishing these other little bunch of songs for another short EP that should be coming soon.

Q: Any parting words?
A. If you're interested in any other projects I'm involved with you can look up Stellar Wave which is another band or Blind Moose which produces great content from local bands in the northeast! & Thanks so much to all my friends and family that support me!
